About Android Security Warnings
The PENCA Emergency App is provided directly by the Playa Encanto Neighborhood Civil Association (PENCA).
The PENCA Emergency App is currently installed directly from the PENCA website rather than through the Google Play Store. Because of this, Android and Google Chrome may display security warnings during the installation.
These warnings are expected when installing PENCA Emergency from the official PENCA website.
“File might be harmful”
Chrome may display a message saying that the file might be harmful.
This warning appears because PENCA Emergency is an Android installation file (APK) being downloaded directly from a website rather than from the Google Play Store.
When downloading PENCA Emergency from this PENCA website, tap: Download anyway
“Your phone currently isn’t allowed to install unknown apps from this source”
Android may display this message the first time you install PENCA Emergency.
Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and Android should automatically return you to the PENCA Emergency installation.
When asked “Do you want to install this app?”, tap Install.
This permission allows Chrome to install the PENCA Emergency app you downloaded. It does not automatically install other apps.
“Permission to Install Unknown Apps”
Android may tell you that, for your security, your phone is not currently allowed to install apps from this source.
You may be asked to allow Chrome to install unknown apps.
Follow the on-screen instructions to allow installation from Chrome, then continue installing PENCA Emergency.
This permission allows Chrome to install the PENCA Emergency app you just downloaded. It does not automatically install other apps.
“App blocked to protect your device”
Google Play Protect may display a message saying:
App blocked to protect your device
This may appear because PENCA Emergency is being installed directly from the PENCA website and Google Play Protect may have not previously seen the app from this developer.
To continue:
Tap More details.
Tap Install anyway.
Do not tap “Got it” if you want to continue the installation.
“Send App to Google for a Security Check?”
Android may offer to send PENCA Emergency to Google for a security check before or during installation.
It is okay to allow Google to perform this security check?
Follow the on-screen instructions and then continue with the installation.
Why Am I Seeing These Warnings?
Android is designed to be cautious when an app is installed from somewhere other than the Google Play Store. These security protections help prevent people from accidentally installing an app from an unknown or untrusted source.
In this case, you are intentionally installing PENCA Emergency directly from PENCA.
An Important Safety Reminder
Only install PENCA Emergency using the download link on the official PENCA website.
If you receive a PENCA Emergency installation file from an email, text message, WhatsApp message, or another website, do not install it. Return to the PENCA website and use the official installation page.
